I’m in the thick of Week 3 and workouts are amazing! I work out 3 to 4 hours a day, six days a week and the workouts look like this:
Monday – P90X3, 10 min Peloton strength, Abs, 30 min run, Bis/Tris, 45 min spin class
Tuesday- P90X3, 10 min Peloton strength, Abs, 30 min Body Combat, Hams/Glutes, 45 min spin class
Wednesday- P90X3, 10 min Peloton strength, Abs, 30 min run, Hams/Glutes, 45 min spin class
Thursday- P90X3, 10 min Peloton strength, Abs, 30 min Body Combat, Back/Bis, 45 min spin class
Friday- P90X3, 10 min Peloton strength, Abs, 30 min run, Quads/Hams, 45 min spin class
Saturday- 2 P90X3 classes, 10 min Peloton strength, Abs, 30 min Body Combat, Chest/Delts, 45 min spin class
And my workouts are dialed in. They’re habit now and when the alarm clock goes off at 4 am, I get up and put in the work. My workouts are also my personal 3-4 hour therapy sessions. I calm my mind by working my body and I do a ton of visualization as I lift.
And, yet, my Achilles heel is something I’m still struggling with: nutrition. I have 29 weeks until I step onto that fitness competition stage in Salt Lake City and my nutrition is NOT right. I’m 100% in on my workouts and 0% in on my nutrition.
And the truth is simple: I have a bad habit of emotionally eating. I also haven’t properly prepped my meals until today… so when there’s no chicken and veggies in tupper ware containers and life gets stressful, what do I reach for? Wheat thins, sugary protein bars/candy and pasta.
The problem is clear. The solution is not. Contrary to my 0/100 nature, I’m actually going to have to do the thing I really don’t want to do: make gradual progress until I get my nutrition dialed in. How not fun!
So… the lesson for Week 3 with 29 weeks left?
I have my next weigh-in, progress mics and measurements on 7/21 so it’s time to meal prep weekly, eat the food on my nutrition plan and, when I feel like eating my emotions, meditate instead.
I won’t get this perfect at first. But, eventually, I’ll get as consistent on my nutrition as I am on my workouts. The entire point is for me to not get discouraged by these temporary setbacks and to stay absolutely focused on where I KNOW I’m going to end up… and that’s on stage in Salt Lake City, Utah in March 2020.
Here we go!
